The prelims of UFC 302 in Newark featured a series of hard-fought battles, with athletes making the most of their time in the Octagon. Six of the seven prelim bouts went the distance, providing plenty of action for fight fans. The standout performance came from Brazilian heavyweight Jailton Almeida, who delivered the only finish of the prelims by submitting Alexandr Romanov.

Prelim Results:

• Andre Lima defeats Mitch Raposo by Unanimous Decision (30-27, 30-27, 29-28)
  • Lima chopped at Raposo’s legs early, controlling the fight and earning his second UFC victory despite missing weight by four pounds.
• Ailin Perez defeats Joselyne Edwards by Unanimous Decision (30-27, 29-28, 29-28)
  • Perez secured her third straight UFC win, utilizing throws and a spinning backfist to dominate Edwards.
• Bassil Hafez defeats Mickey Gall by Unanimous Decision (30-27, 30-27, 29-28)
  • In a thrilling battle, Hafez outlasted Gall, who was returning after a two-year hiatus.
• Jake Matthews defeats Philip Rowe by Unanimous Decision (29-28, 29-28, 30-27)
  • Matthews showed his versatility, battling through a back-and-forth fight to secure his 13th UFC victory.
• Grant Dawson defeats Joe Solecki by Unanimous Decision (29-28, 30-27, 30-27)
  • Dawson returned to form with a dominant performance, controlling Solecki with ground-and-pound.
• Jailton Almeida defeats Alexandr Romanov by Submission (rear-naked choke) at 2:27 of Round 1
  • Almeida rebounded from his first UFC loss with a swift submission victory, demonstrating his grappling prowess.
