Before becoming president, he served as the Vice President of the United States under President Barack Obama from 2009 to 2017.

Biden's political journey began when he was elected to the New Castle County Council in 1970. He later served as a U.S. Senator from Delaware from 1973 to 2009, making him one of the longest-serving senators in American history. During his time in the Senate, Biden chaired the Senate Judiciary Committee and the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, gaining significant experience in domestic and foreign policy.

In the 2020 presidential election, Biden ran as the Democratic Party nominee against the incumbent President Donald Trump.
